Our First Tree

Last night we decided we would run by Walmart to see if they had any pre-lit trees that were within our price range (which was anywhere from "free" to "not very much") and sure enough they had one! We got home and set it up. My great-grandma has a tradition of giving all of the grandkids an ornament every year, so luckily I had those and some my mom had kept that I made in elementary school that we could decorate with so it wasn't bare. I pulled them out of the box and Casey placed them ever-so-fabulously on the tree. He was very concerned he was going to mess up the placement of them somehow but I think he did just great :] Here is the finished product! Also, you may notice the angel on the top. It came from my great-great grandma, and I believe she made it. It's a little creepy but it's special!

Ferdinand the Mouse

Lets go back to the beginning of our adventures with Ferdinand:

One night, I was laying in bed in my quiet, dark apartment. I started to hear a scratching noise behind my dresser. I got up, flipped on the lights, and just stared at my dresser, trying to figure out if I had really heard it, or if it was part of my dream or something. All of a sudden, I heard it, but I couldn't tell if it was behind or inside the dresser. So what did I decide to do in my drowsy state? I kicked my dresser, thinking that somehow that would answer my question. It went quiet for a little bit, and then, as I watched, a little mouse poked his head out from behind it. I know it's just a little mouse, but it freaked me out and grossed me out. Luckily he was just as scared of me as I was of him (which I'm aware makes me a wuss).

I informed Casey of the new addition to the apartment and he suggested I get some poison or a trap. I got a trap but it was some "high tech" kind that traps them without killing them. Well... it didn't work. By this point, I started finding mouse poop in the most annoying places. How was he getting into those places?! I didn't understand. Another frustration was that I could not figure out where he came from! So I put my detective hat on. I heard noises behind the dresser, but when the dresser was ripped apart and drawers were emptied, he was nowhere to be found, which lead me to believe he was in the wall. I went in to the kitchen and looked under the kitchen sink and sure enough, there is a hole in the wall where the plumbing comes in, but it didn't get patched up around it. My theory is that the mouse was getting into the garage and climbing up through the wall into the apartment.

The "high tech" trap wasn't working. There was cheese AND peanut butter and he wanted nothing to do with it. I just kept picturing the mouse from Ratatouille. One with a very distinguished pallet. I hoped that was not the case, because my next move... was rat poison. I was hesitant to use it, because you never know where they'll end up dying. So, I bought the poison and put it under the sink, knowing he would find it there. As the days progressed, I saw the pile of rat poison grow smaller and smaller until one day it was gone. But there was not mouse. Was he a magical mouse who could withstand poison?

One day, Casey and I were sitting on the couch and at the same time, we saw the mouse run across the floor, over behind the stove and fridge. I believe Casey's words as he ran to the kitchen were, "Ferdinand is gonna die!" We blocked off the area, grabbed a broom moved everything else out of the way. He had nowhere to go. We pulled out the stove... and he wasn't there, so we KNEW he was behind the fridge. But when we pulled out the fridge... he was gone! This just furtherd my thoughts on him being a magical mouse. We stood there for a minute, quite bummed we'd been outsmarted by a mouse. How was he even still alive?!

Over the next couple of days, we stared finding little mouse poop pellets that were pure rat poison. It didn't make sense! But then one day, I was Ferdinand mosey his little way across the kitchen floor. He was moving quite slow and didn't seem to be trying to be sneaky like usual. I knew his time was running short. Now if only he would conveniently die in the middle of the floor! Alas, this was not the case.

When Casey and I got back from our honeymoon, I was SURE my birth control wasn't working. Before we got married, my brother-in-law Ryan made sure we were aware that it was only 98% effective, and we should be careful, because we just might be that unlucky 2%. I started to freak myself. I kept smelling these weird smells that Casey couldn't seem to ever smell... it was a sure sign I was pregnant... right?! Probably not, but I was almost convinced it was.

Finally, Saturday, I woke up and came out of the bedroom and the smell was so bad. I was determined to track it down to figure out where it was coming from. I narrowed it down and decided he had probably crawled up into the underneath part of the stove where it was warm, and had died. When Casey got home that afternoon, I pointed it out, and he could finally smell it. I wasn't crazy! Sunday, when we got home from church, Casey did some checking around of his own. His detective skills surpass my own. He was able to track it to the back of the fridge. There was a little hole, and when he stuck his nose down by it, apparently the smell was pretty rank. He got inside and what did he find?! Ferdinand. Dead. Super gross and smelly with all sorts of really gross stuff happening down there. I tied a scarf around Casey's face, and sprayed some perfume on it, and when it would lose it's smell, he'd have me spray some more on. I would hand him tools and towels and throw things away. He did the hard part though, which I am eternally grateful because I would have, without a doubt, thrown up. It would have been a disaster. What a guy I have!

So, friends, Ferdinand is no more. The apartment has been thoroughly deep cleaned and I finally feel like I can be home without feeling icky. I've never felt so yucky in an apartment before! I'm glad it's over. The next project is to cover the whole in the wall so this will never happen again.

Farewell Ferdinand. You will not be missed.

Hooray for being married!

Well, folks, all the wedding craziness is over! It was so wonderful and I can't believe how fast everything went! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of the help we got with everything, even just being there for support. It really meant so much to us and it made all of the wedding events so special for both of us. We both feel so blessed to be married into such wonderful new families!

We should be getting pictures back from the reception and from at the temple around the beginning of January. She thought she could probably get them back to me sooner but wanted to say January because of all the holiday mayhem that may or may not occur. I'm so anxious to see them! It was such a fun time :]

I know Casey was keeping our honeymoon a secret but I feel like I can tell everyone now where he took me. We ended up going to Salt Lake and stayed at Little America for a couple nights. It was so pretty! We were in a tower room high up on the 15th floor, and we were looking into the city and all the lights and the snow and everything were so beautiful and Christmasy. It was a really great way to start off a marriage!

Now Christmas is just around the corner and there's lots of fun and celebrations to be had. We're so excited to be able to spend our first holiday together as a married couple!

Endowments Scheduled

Well everyone, I got my appointment set up for my Endowments! It took a lot of going back and forth  between temples and stuff. There is really only one day that I could have it done where Casey could go through with me, and that's something I really wanted to have happen, but he has school during the day, so it had to be the latest session they had. I scheduled a time, but realized the temple didn't have rentals, so I called another one, and they didn't have late enough sessions for Casey to make it on time (we have to get there early), so finally, I called the Provo Temple and set it up with them. It was the latest one they had, but I'm only able to have a few people there other than Casey and myself. I wanted to let any family who was able to come, but it's either this, or not getting sealed, so I figured I better stick with  it, and that people would understand. I'm so excited! It's been a long road to get to this point and I'm thankful it's almost here!

It's going to be a pretty busy couple of weeks coming up! I've got a family bridal shower, my brother- and sister-in-law to be just had a baby so we'll hopefully be able to get over to see all of them soon , my fabulous cousin and his wonderful fiance are going to be Sealed, my Endowments, Thanksgiving, our reception, Sealing and family Luncheon. So many fun things! Time is going to FLY BY!!! I'm loving it :] I can't wait to be married to my Casey!

One Month! One Month!

Well, I tried to get Casey to hold up our "Love Chain" so I could post a picture of how short it's getting, but he refused, because he was the one that posed with the chain for the last picture. Hopefully I'll get a recent picture of it up here in the next couple of days. We are down to 31 days! One month from today! This month is going to FLY BY! There is already so much going on in the next month, PLUS wedding stuff on top of that, it's going to be here before we know it! I can't believe it! It still doesn't feel real...

Bridals Are In!

Bridals are all done and I got the pictures back! It was really fun, because I had a whole entourage with me! My mom, sister, family friend, cousin and Grandma were all there with me and it was a lot of fun! The weather turned out to be so wonderful, because we had been told there was a chance of a storm. It was a little cold and windy, and in some of my pictures my nose is really red and my eyes are watering. It makes me look very emotional... haha :]

Casey went up with me (to Heber) because we were heading to my family's cabin in Wanship as soon as we got done. He was okay with going because he planned to stay at my Grandma's house and watch the BYU game while I went to take pictures. Wellll..... when we got there, we found out that Grandma and Grandpa didn't get the channel the game was on. I think he honestly thought he was going to die. He was so bummed and I felt so bad! He ended up listening to the game on KSL and watched a cooking show on Food Network at the same time. Very productive couple of hours for him! Haha :] Love him!

We were able to take pictures at the Welch's house in Heber. They have a BEAUTIFUL backyard, and there were so many places to take pictures.
Here are just a few...

Bridals Tomorrow!

I'm going to get my Bridal's done tomorrow and apparently I'm really nervous about... or something. I had a dream last night that the photographer wouldn't let me wear my own dress because it didn't go along with the theme she had decided on for me. She made me wear a dress that I hated. It was ugly and torn and didn't fit and it was really dirty. Casey was also there with me and he was pretty upset that this lady wouldn't let me wear what I wanted. The place she had chosen to take the pictures at was an old run down swimming pool outside in the middle of the mountains somewhere. There were gross things floating in it, and there was a ton of scrap metal all over the bottom of it, and she wanted pictures of me, in my gross dress, diving in to this sick pool.

It was the weirdest dream. I get those from time-to-time when I'm feeling a little stressed. Apparently now is one of those times. I'm sure it will be just fine though! I'll post the pictures when I get them :]

Love to all!

Wedding Planning Craziness!

I can't believe how much goes in to planning a wedding! It's crazy! Luckily there have been a ton of people helping out and giving opinions and advice and it's all been super fabulous and helpful!

My momma, Lisa, sister Kaitlin, and her best friend Kjalla (pronounced Shayla) are getting in to town tonight! Mom's going to be here to help get wedding things taken care of, and to be able to be here so we can do the whole "wedding planning" thing together (since that's what moms and daughters do, right?!). I'm really excited for them all to be here! It's going to be awesome to have them close by for a bit :]

Things are coming along smoothly for the most part. Mom has actually done most of it on her own, she'll just tell me what I need to do and when. It's been wonderful because I don't know a single thing about planning a whole wedding. Mom is doing a fantastic job though, especially for it being her first time (other than her own wedding, of course).

I've got bridal's this saturday which should be fun. I love wearing my wedding dress, so I'm excited to be able to wear it, even if I hate having pictures taken of myself :] I hope they pictures turn out okay! I get nervous, but I'm sure they'll be fine!

Thanks again to everyone for all the help with everything thus far! My family is awesome and I'm lucky to be marrying into a family that is equally wonderful!

Love to all

Engagements are In!

Here are a few of our engagement pictures we just had taken! These ones are some of my favorites and as I picked them out, I realized that they are the pictures that most people would think of as the "mess up" pictures: ie Casey talking, or me laughing. It's either that, or kissy pictures :] Hehe! I decided that I like these ones the best though because they show our silly personalities! Let me know your thoughts!

We're engaged, we're engaged, and we don't care who knows it!! :]

Well, folks, he did it! He got down on one knee and popped the question! It was a really fun night and I wouldn't have had it happen any differently :]

Here's the whole story:

So, Casey prides himself of being a good cook, but everytime he has attempted to make me a good meal, he feels his attempts fail. Well, on Wednesday, I got a text from him during the day asking if he could make me dinner. He had also asked me a couple days prior to that if he could take me on a date on Thursday night. I thought for sure he would propose on this "hot date" on Thursday night, so when he asked to make me dinner, I thought nothing of it.

Well, he is usually at my apartment by the time I get home from work, since his school is closer than my school. I got home, and he wasn't there. It was weird, but I figured he ran home or something first. He showed up about 6:15 with lots of groceries for this dinner he was making. He seemed different but I couldn't tell what it was, I just figured he thinking about this dinner... because it looked pretty involved. As he started making it, I saw just how involved it really was. He also got stuff to make a fancy dessert, too! That's when I decided that he was trying to prove to me that he really did know how to cook! I sat there and we talked while he made dinner. He did an EXCELLENT job and it all tasted so fantastic! After dinner, we talked for a bit and watched a little tv. He was really cuddly and touchy-feely. He's that way a lot, but it was even more so than usual this night.

Finally, in the middle of a show, he turned the tv off, which is not normal. He didn't even wait for a commercial! He grabbed my hand, and told me he needed me to stand up, so I did. He hugged me for a bit and kind of rocked back and forth (that's how we dance! haha!)... That's when it hit me. That was not an attempt to prove to me he could cook! He was not being super cuddly and affectionate just because! HE WAS ABOUT TO PROPOSE! I got a very shocked look on my face and started to giggle (which I often times will do). I couldn't stop giggling! Then he got down on one knee and said "I have something for you..." Then he did his thing and pulled out the ring and when he opened it up, I couldn't believe how sparkly it was! It was beautiful! The best part is that he had picked it out all by himself. He put a LOT of thought and effot (and money, I'm sure!) and it makes it that much more special! He asked me to marry him, and I said yes. Then he asked me if I was sure, and I just kissed him. I actually don't know that I ever actually answered him that second time! Oh well... I think he got the point.

Afterward we sat down and just started at the ring on my hand. I couldn't believe it was official! We're officially engaged. I can't believe it!!

Here's the ring. Didn't he do an awesome job?!

So, folks, that's how it happened. It was a fabulous night and I loved every minute of it!

Our Friend in the Apt

I don't know how many of you have heard of or seen the online video series "Homestar Runner" but if you have, you will be interested to know that Strongbad is living on the door of one of our cupboards in the kitchen! Haha :]

The Love Chain

Casey and I decided the other day that we wanted to make a chain to count down the days until our wedding! It seems like forever away, and for some reason we thought that a chain would help... which is silly, because the chain ended up being SO LONG which only confirmed our feelings. After we made the chain, I handed it to Casey and told him to pose for a picture, so of course, this is how he chooses to display it:

Gotta love him.

As of today, our countdown is at 74 days, we took one of the loops off the chain yesterday, so we're making progress! There's so much to do before the wedding, though, that time is actually going by a lot faster than we expected it to. It will be here before we know it!
